2018 - Sondre Holst Enger

Sondre Holst Enger was proclaimed one of the biggest sprinter talents in the bicycle sport a few years ago after taking the bronze medal at the World Cup in 2013. The northern man later changed to IAM Cycling, but when the team closed prior to the 2017 season, he signed a contract with AG2R La Mondiale.
 
However, the shift to the French WorldTour team has not gone according to plan. He has only been in the top ten a single time this year, and Enger regrets that he signed with AG2R La Mondiale. Everything is actually in French on the team, and therefore the language barrier was huge for the upcoming Israel Cycling Academy rider.
 
"It was bad for me to be on AG2R. It was really a disaster. Now I'm looking forward to getting in touch with the guys on the team, being able to speak English and talk to them again. That's what I'm looking forward to and I'm looking forward to regaining the joy of cycling, "says Enger to Procycling.no.
 
"I'm not so keen on how it's going to go, but I'm focusing on finding the fun of it and having fun. I'm keen to drive well and get the motivation and well-being that I had at IAM Cycling back. "

Un mot sur Holst Enger, qui est passé au travers de sa saison. Avez-vous mis un terme à son contrat d’un commun accord ?

L’adaptation a été compliquée pour Sondre, même si j’ai découvert un garçon charmant dès le premier stage. Il a eu du mal à apprendre le français, et on ne le sentait pas vraiment heureux dans l’équipe, et ça s’est vu dans les résultats. On le sentait un peu perdu, et je pense que c’était la meilleure solution de trouver un commun accord. C’est un garçon qui a des qualités, et je pense qu’il se sentira mieux dans une formation anglo-saxonne. L’essentiel, c’est qu’il puisse remettre un dossard et qu’il ait retrouvé une équipe pour 2018.
